FOOD RECOS

Kermit

best overall resto

No doubt the island's #1 resto for food and vibe. Their pizza has been hailed "the best pizza in the Philippines" by various food blogs and critics. Sooo good, they even had to branch out to Manila. They serve not only Italian dishes but also some Filipino favorites. Daily happy hour is from 6 - 7 pm while Fridays are buy-1-get-1 cocktails all day. First come first serve basis.

Dawis

best cheap + local food

A Filipino-style, family run restaurant right on the main tourism road. Offering a variety of breakfast options and local favorites, the menu is small but every dish is quite tasty. Portions are Asian-sized so if you're hungry, you will need to order a couple. You might have to go through a phase where you'll order their Mango Curry everyday. Other must-trys are the Chicken Cordon Bleu and Carbonara. You'll be surprised! Closed on Saturdays.

Greenhouse

best brunch

Best breakfast on the island! They literally have five dishes on the menu but every single one is well balanced and well thought of.

Try the Same Same Pero Diferente if you're craving for some bacon or the Eggs Benny with that decadent Hollandaise sauce.

Warung

best asian food

Sumptuous Indonesian and Malaysian cuisine in a gorgeous setting. If you're craving something really tasty and filling, this hits the spot! Try the Nasi Bungkus and top it off with Kaka's Kelapang. Closed on Sundays.

Bravo

best beach ambiance

Mostly Spanish and some Asian inspired dishes. Sit back and relax at the restaurant with a mojito or escape the heat and take a quick dip at their plunge pool.  Open for lunch and dinner.

Harana

best coffee

Part of Harana's restaurant literally turns into a co-working space for the islands local and foreign residents. So if you're planning to stay a while, this is the best place to expand your network while having a Cappuccino at their café, Filibeans. The resto serves fresh, flavorful Filipino dishes as well. Extra patience may be needed with the restaurant staff.

best deserts

Cocosurf

You can't leave the island without trying the Coconut Cheesecake, the most decadent desert that matches perfectly with a long black coffee. The carrot cake is also quite special. If you need to go online for a bit, they just might have the most reliable internet connection. And if the summer heat is getting to you, sit back and relax on one of their couches and enjoy the aircon.

Café Loka

beautiful location

Situated right on the beach between Cloud 9 and Jacking Horse, this café is the perfect spot to spend your first afternoon on the island. Order a coconut or a healthy green smoothie while waiting for the sunset or the moonrise.

gorgeous ocean views

Isla Cabana

Not a popular choice because of its unimpressive entrance from the main road. The menu's variety of Western + Eastern cuisine, beautiful pool and ocean views definitely make up for any of the staff's hesitation to let you in. There is a consumable cover charge of Php 300 per person to dine at the restaurant. Reservations are recommended due to limited covered space.

Villa Maya

breathtaking mountain views

It's about a 15 minute drive through General Luna to get to the village of Catangnan. Villa Maya is built on top of a hill overlooking rice fields and a coconut jungle in the distance. They also have a mini golf course and a skate ramp. Try the Shawarma and Mango Lassi, yum!
